25 Weeks

25 Weeks

Not a whole lot new this week but I do believe she is going to be a little night owl. I went to a girls movie night at Valerie’s this past Friday and didn’t get home until 1AM! She was moving and kicking lots all night. She either really likes Hitch or liked that I was comfy on the couch. I got the last bit of fabric I need for some projects so I spent the rest of my weekend washing, ironing, and cutting it all up so that I can take it with me to the farm this weekend. A 3 day weekend is the perfect opportunity to sew! I have an appointment tomorrow which will include my glucose test. I’m kind of looking forward to it. I am ready to get it out of the way and to see if it is as bad as some people have said. Mostly I’m just ready to hear that little heartbeat again! We aren’t any closer to a name but we have talked about it a little bit this past week which is more than previously so I promise….she will have one!
Oh another fun thing! I’ve had some people tell me they got invitations to the AR baby shower and I am so excited for it! My friends have already put so much thought into it…I got a little teary when I saw the invite.

24 Weeks

24 Weeks

What a week it has been. We got some frustrating news about the sale of our house which ultimately resulted in the decision to stay in our house for another year.  Not what we had planned but actually is turning out to be great. I did some major house purging over the weekend and have the 2 extra rooms cleaned out. Now we are ready to plan for little baby no name. She may not have a name but she will have a place to sleep!

How far along: 24 Weeks

Total weight gain: 7 lbs

Maternity clothes: Yes

Stretch marks: Holding steady at 1…at least as far as I can tell

Sleep: The last few nights I have had a hard time getting comfortable. Lots of tossing and turning. And of course, the middle of the night bathroom and drink break.

Best moment of this week: We have settled on plans for our house (more about that above..), we will be staying here for another year so that means now we can make baby room plans. In a weird turn of events that decision has been very nice and I’m getting really excited about getting the room all set up.

Miss anything: My t-shirts!

Movement: Lots of movement! She is pretty active in the mornings and evenings.

Food cravings: Still loving those cheeseburgers, Slim’s Chicken, and mini M&Ms

Anything making you queasy or sick: Villanova lost at that made me feel pretty sick…Bracket is broken….but nothing serious.

Have you started to show yet: Yes

Gender: Girl!! No name Nothum

Labor signs: None

Belly button in or out: In..but barely. It is getting smaller each day I think.

Wedding rings on or off: On

Looking forward to: All of the wonderful weather that is coming. I’m done with the cold and ready for the hot!

23 Weeks

23 Weeks
Week 23…Almost 6 months pregnant. How crazy is that? She is definitely growing and moving. My belly just keeps getting bigger (and it’s only halfway there!). Not much has been happening this week. Just looking for a place to live once we close on our house and praying that nothing falls through before our closing date. It is so scary having to wait it out.
How far along: 23 Weeks
Total weight gain: 7 lbs…apparently all that wedding cake I had this weekend is catching up to me!
Maternity clothes: Yes
Stretch marks: I think I found one…
Sleep: Thanks to the amount of pillows I now sleep with, anytime I roll over I pretty much have to wake up to readjust everything. And of course…the middle of the night bathroom trip.
Best moment of this week: We went to a wedding this past weekend which was a lot of fun. Punch and cake are some of my favorite things.
Miss anything: My standard weekend wear is a t-shirt and jeans. My favorite t-shirts are just about out of commission. I may have to wear some of Joe’s…
Movement: Lots of movement. She is more active in the mornings and evenings. I’m fairly certain she has started rolling around too. Occasionally I just feel a lot of pressure followed by a kick on the other side so I think she’s swimming around. OR she’s working on her back handsprings like a good little girl.
Food cravings: Still loving those Sonic burgers. And Fruit Loops for breakfast. This could also explain the weight gain…(seriously though, I try to ignore most of the things I want to eat because they are all bad for me!)
Anything making you queasy or sick: Nothing that makes me sick but I do get indigestion occasionally. Nothing too serious but it is annoying.
Have you started to show yet: Yes
Gender: Girl…still no name and we really aren’t even close to picking one seeing as we haven’t even discussed names yet. I am starting to keep track of how many times a day I get asked if we have a name…or how many people offer suggestions. Keep those coming, you never know….we may like one!
Labor signs: None
Belly button in or out: In…but it is quickly disappearing. I have a serious innie and it is getting very shallow.
Wedding rings on or off: On
Looking forward to: Lunch at my Mema’s this coming Sunday. There is always yummy food and the company isn’t too bad either.

The Baby Registry

I am a serious over packer, over planner, and to no one’s surprise…an over registerer. No, that is not a word but for today it is. I chose to register at Target and Babies-R-Us since those are basically my only options. I have discovered that I love Buy, Buy, Baby but the nearest one is over an hour away so it isn’t really an option. Although I am a first time mom, I have definitely spent a lot of time around kids. I babysat through high school and now several of my friends have kids. Before I went in to the stores I thought…ok, don’t register for unnecessary stuff. You don’t need everything in the store. Then I walked in….and all thoughts went flying from my brain. I wanted it all!! I have already been informed that there are several baby showers in my future so I figured registering for too much may not be a bad thing. The one thing I stayed away from was clothing. I put a few of the solid white onesies that you really can’t have enough of on there and socks but other than that, no clothing. Here are a few collages of the items I have chosen.

Joe actually picked out the stroller. I definitely had a smaller one picked but he said, “This one has suspension so we can go feed the deer together”. After a comment like that, the man can pick out whatever he wants. The car seat I am super pumped about. I love the all black, very clean look of this one. Not to mention the safety ratings are through the roof. I went ahead and put both the swing and bouncer on there because I think both are handy. Are both necessary? No of course not. In fact, neither are really necessary – just a nice bonus. The Pack-N-Play is going to be an essential item at first. Babies have to sleep somewhere! I had initially picked an Ikea dresser and I may change my mind back but when I saw this set, I fell in love.

Big Stuff

I’ve had several people tell me they love Burt’s Bees and Aveeno for their baby so why not try both? I know the Bumbo is certainly an extra thing that may not get used for too long but again…who knows what will work for us! I’m hoping she takes a paci. I know it will be a hard habit to break later but all of my siblings and myself turned out just fine. Even if when I lost mine I traumatized 3 other adults in the process.
Health

I am planning on breastfeeding. So there are several mama needs on this section at both stores. From nursing pads to lanolin to nursing tanks, they are going to be used. I did register for bottles as I will have to work away from home 1 day a week. My cousin has so wonderfully allowed me to borrow her awesome double electric pump so hopefully we won’t have any problems. When it comes to burp cloths I am a firm believer that the Gerber white pre-fold cloth diapers are the absolute best. But some of the others are just so cute I couldn’t help but pick out a few. Plus, you can never have too many things for a kid to throw up on. Spit Up…..It Happens. I included a few things for later such as spoons, bowls, and sippy cups.
Feeding

Then came the fun stuff. I may have registered for several books. I love books and I fully intend on reading as much as this little girl wants. I threw in some teething stuff, some toys, and other accessories. I’ve had more than one mama tell me how much they love the Aden & Anais blankets so if there was a pattern I liked, it got added. I also included a few of the swaddle blankets like the chevron one shown here.

So…overzealous? Definitely. But my mom, sister, and I had fun so that is really all that matters. I’m sure once we’ve used some of these items I will update and share what I like and what I don’t.

22 Weeks

Another selfie...we've been a little busy.

Another selfie…we’ve been a little busy.

Over halfway…I now have less time left than I have been pregnant. (Did that make sense? Made sense in my head) We are all registered…although sometimes if I get bored I keep editing it. I have finally gained a little more thanks to a lot of eating over the last 2 weeks. A trip to the farm will do that to you haha! The exciting news for us is that we signed a contract on our house so as long as everything goes well we will be closing in April and will be able to start work on our new house! As soon as we get moved from the current house to a rental I can really start getting baby stuff ready and I’m excited for that!! I can’t wait to hang up clothes (everything still has tags…I know to wait until we get closer to remove and wash it all) and get what we have organized. i bought some fabric this weekend to start making burp cloths and a blanket. We also were able to pick out fabric for her quilt and I am so excited about that. My mother-in-law always does a great job on those and I can’t wait to get hers!!

The fabric I picked out for my stuff.

Joe went on a boys trip this weekend to Fort Worth and brought back the cutest little onesie for his girl. I can’t wait for her to wear it!

The anatomy scan I had went very well. She was measuring right on and everything is developing perfectly. The ultrasound tech flipped the machine to the 3D mode so we were able to get a glimpse of her face. She was pretty shy for the most part and kept her hand up by her face. At one point she flipped her legs over her head! I said she must be working on her backhand spring already. I think she’s precious already and will be so very cute! I mean look at those cheeks…

Sleep: I am starting to have a hard time getting comfortable at night. I always wake up around 3 to use the bathroom and to get a drink of water.
Best moment of this week: At my dr appt last Tuesday they told us that the anatomy scan went well and everything looks good!
Miss anything: Nothing too much this week
Movement: Lots of movement! I can feel her several times throughout the day and some of the kicks are really strong. Joe has been able to feel her once but she isn’t consistent enough yet that other people can feel it.
Food cravings: Loving Sonic cheeseburgers still and Mini M&Ms. I’m not sure why they are different but something about them tastes different than the regular ones. And I love my chocolate to come straight out of the refrigerator.

Farm Life

IMG_0555

No I do not live on a farm…had you for a minute thought didn’t I? Joe’s grandparents live in a small town in Southwest MO and his family has dubbed the place, “The Farm”. It is probably one of my favorite places we go. Everytime we go it is always so much fun. Lots of laughing and LOTS of FOOD!!! It also means we get to see his family more often than we would if the farm didn’t exist. It is a great meeting place for a weekend visit. This past weekend we all made the trip out there. The boys left on Saturday for opening day of trout season in MO and the girls stayed  back and enjoyed a lazy weekend. It ended up snowing all day on Saturday so we stayed tucked in the house watching movies and eating yummy food. And of course…passing around baby Jack!! Hannah is in town which is the biggest reason we planned a visit at the farm. Jack needed to meet his great-grandparents and his uncles! It was so sweet watching Joe hold and play with Jack. He isn’t much of a baby person but he warmed up to Jack pretty quickly. And he got a little practice in before our little girl gets here. Jack and baby cakes will be 6 months apart so I can’t wait until they are both able to play together.

We watched Rodger’s & Hammerstein’s Cinderella…the old Lesley Ann Warren version of course.51QJVY2EBFL

I was introduced to it by my aunt when I was young and she got it for me for Christmas a few years ago. I had no idea my mother-in-law loved it too until our trip to CA! So of course I packed that with me.

We also watched the movie Mom’s Night Out. I saw this movie for the first time last week when I was invited by Valerie to a Girl’s Night Out at her church. They watched this movie and had popcorn and snacks.

MNO_OfficialPoster_Low

This movie is really great. Not only is it funny but it has a great message. And I would argue that the message in it isn’t just for moms. I’m not a mom quite yet and I certainly don’t have to juggle multiple kids like these women have to do in the movie but it is a good reminder that we are who God has made us to be. And we can’t expect to be any more than that.

Now for the fun part….the pictures of Jack!! IMG_0566

IMG_0552

IMG_0565

Jack has gotten so big since our trip to CA. He talks to you and smiles at you. He is so much fun!! Getting snowed in for Saturday wasn’t too bad with this little guy around and by Sunday the main roads were all clear so none of us had any trouble getting home.  If you know me you know I am not a fan of winter. Once Christmas is over, I’m ready for warm sunshine! It is snowing again today but I’m hoping after this we are done!! Bring on the warm weather!!!

20/21 Weeks

I’m so very behind on this….I wrote this before the weekend and then forget to get a picture so you’ll have to settle for a selfie! I promise a more up to date update next week!!
IMG_0568

Sorry for the clothes on the floor. I hadn’t picked up yet!

Halfway there!!! I think my belly must have popped a bit because I’ve had several people tell me that I now look pregnant….which is better than looking fat haha! I’ve been feeling little kicks all week and Saturday Joe was able to feel. It was really cool for him to be able to feel her. My favorite shirt right now is from GAP. It’s the Pure Body maternity t-shirts. They are amazing – so comfy and flattering. I need to get a few more so I stop living in my 2! The indigestion has been hanging out this week and it is not my favorite symptom. It seems to hit after random things, one day I drank a bottle of water and had it so I just eat my Tums and keep going. Saturday, my mom, sister, and I did some major baby shopping. We went to Tulsa and hit up Buy Buy Baby. If you have never been to one of these you should go. It is incredible! My complaint about Northwest AR is that there are NO baby stores!! As big as it is (home of Walmart people….NWA is bigger than you think) there is only Target! Now, I love Target, but a Buy Buy Baby or a Babies R Us is needed here. We spent 3 hours in Buy Buy Baby and then we drove to Babies R Us and registered. Joplin has one too,  that one is close and accessible but since we were already in Tulsa and it was right across the street, we went with it. It was a lot of fun and boy was I tired when we were done. My feet hurt and I was ready for bed. I have noticed that when I’m on my feet all day they really hurt by the end of the day. I don’t think they are swelling but they certainly are sore. I can’t believe we are halfway there!
How far along: 20 Weeks
Total weight gain: 3 lbs – seems to be my magic number right now. Basically, I was little heavier than I should have been when I got pregnant so my body doesn’t need to gain a lot of weight to sustain a healthy pregnancy. My dr has no concerns that I haven’t gained much now. They keep telling me to just wait….it will catch up in the last few months.
Maternity clothes: Maternity clothes all the way! My dress pants being unbuttoned were definitely looking funny so I’ve given up.
Stretch marks: None that I can see
Sleep: Definitely waking up to use the bathroom in the middle of the night. It seems to have gotten earlier so I may be well on my way to getting up twice in the night.
Best moment of this week: Feeling kicks has been getting very consistent and Joe was able to feel her for the first time!
Miss anything: Some of my regular clothes…my options are definitely much more limited. Movement: I feel kicks every day now. Some days more than others but I feel at least 1 or 2 a day.
Food cravings: Sonic cheeseburgers. How bad is that?? I don’t know what it is but I’m loving them right now.
Anything making you queasy or sick: Nothing is making me sick but I am getting some serious indigestion these days.
Have you started to show yet: Yes
Gender: Girl, no name yet..she does have a growing collection of very cute clothes though. She also has many nicknames given by our family including: Stella, Kitten, and Fancypants.
Labor signs: None
Belly button in or out: In
Wedding rings on or off: On
Looking forward to: Anatomy scan on Friday and seeing our nephew Jack this weekend! I can’t wait to see how much he has grown!
