6 Months

6 Months

Height:  At her last check up she was 25 inches. I’m guessing she has grown a bit because her pajamas are getting a little tight again – – her 6 month appointment is next Thursday.

Weight: She was 12 lbs 11 oz after her last check up. She is still very petite but I’m guessing she is closer to 14 or 15 pounds now. I can’t wait to find out!

Eat: She is still eating every 2-2.5 hours and 4-6 ounces at a time. She also has 2 feedings of pureed food a day. She loves sweet potatoes, squash, and carrots!! She isn’t a fan of the greens so we are still working on those and fruit isn’t her favorite. I’ve started mixing the fruit with some oatmeal and she does that a bit better. She gets prunes at every meal because of the lovely c word….constipation. She makes really funny faces when I switch what I’m feeding her, example: prunes to a vegetable or any fruit that I give her generally elicits a funny face.

Play: She is sitting up all on her own now! So playtime involves reaching for all of the toys that she has thrown out of her immediate circle. She gets mad when she falls over (which isn’t a whole lot unless she is tired) but is realizing that if she lays down she can twist to get her toys better.

Sleep: Sleep is an ever-changing thing for us. Most of her naps are still around 45 minutes. Sometimes I will get an hour and half but not usually. Sleeping through the night is hit or miss. Most nights she fusses and I giver her the paci. Some nights I have to walk her back to sleep. Right now she loves to go to sleep with her cheek on my cheek or my shoulder and her arms around my neck. Talk about making this mama melt.

I though month 5 went fast….month 6 went even faster. I’m sure a lot of that had to do with all of the Christmas festivities that went on but it was crazy fast! I also think this has been our most enjoyable month. The days of crying for hours are behind us and now that she is sitting up on her own grocery shopping and entertaining her have become easier.

Some new things this month:

  • Moved to size 2 diapers
  • Sits all by herself
  • Says mama (usually when she is upset)
  • Says dada (when she is happy and excited)
  • Celebrated her First Christmas
  • Sits in the cart like a big girl
  • She has started acting shy around people (it is so cute)

We had a great time at Christmas. She definitely figured out how to open the presents very quickly. She is still chewing on everything and some days I wonder if a tooth is going to be poking its way through soon. Another exciting thing that happened was that we got to see our friends the Braschlers! Becca hadn’t met them yet and it was so special for her to meet my friend Robyn. Robyn knew how much I longed to be a mommy and was a great support while I was not so patiently waiting for that to happen.

I feel like this month has been a huge turning point for me as well. I’m finally keeping my house clean, getting grocery shopping accomplished for a week instead of a few days, and getting dinner cooked every night. I’m feeling much more like myself and although I’m very busy I feel like I’m finally getting the hang of this mommy thing. I know that no one ever really has it all figured out but I’m finally feeling like myself again and it is making all the difference.
