Becca’s 1st Birthday

We celebrated Becca’s first birthday with a BIG party! About 50 people were in our house. It was crazy but so very fun! On her actual birthday I made some cupcakes and thought I would do a little photo shoot with her. She wasn’t feeling it. Becca 1st Birthday-5 Becca 1st Birthday-6 Becca 1st Birthday-7

For the big party I didn’t go with a theme, just some colors. I did pink, mint, and gold. I mad the rag banner that is on her highchair and the table. I used this tutorial from Pinterest. Becca’s Birthday Girl shirt was from Oh Sweet Sprouts on Easy. (LOVE THEM!) The tutu was Smocked Auctions  (it isn’t available right now but they always have some good stuff) and the moccs are Freshly Picked (My favorite!). The cake was from Amy Cake’s in Springfield. Oh my gracious it was so good. I don’t think I’ll buy a cake from anywhere else ever again, well as long as I’m in Branson. Joe doesn’t like cake that much and he was eating the leftovers. We did strawberry and almond vanilla with a buttercream frosting. The cake topper was from an Etsy shop, SweetEscapesbyDebbie. The tall candle was also an Etsy find, CohassetPartySupply. The massive balloons were 24 inch balloons from Party City. Getting those into the car was a nightmare. I knocked the top box off the cake and ended up having to put down all of my seats, the carseat was in the front (Becca was at home with dad), and sat with the smash cake basically in my lap. Along with the fresh fruit and flowers I had picked up. What an adventure! She wasn’t too interested in her presents or the cake because there was just too much going on. She was busy being social. It was lots of fun and was a good marker for the end of year 1!

12 Months

12 Months-2

Height:  28.2 inches per her 1 year checkup!

Weight: 18lbs 5oz at her 1 year checkup! She has gained a little bit 🙂

Eat: We are now down to 2 bottles a day and 3 full meals. And sometimes a snack! The 2 bottles are currently half formula, half whole milk. So far I’ve learned that Becca definitely doesn’t like cold milk and if it isn’t mixed with the formula she won’t drink it. I can’t blame her, I don’t like milk either. She loves broccoli, turkey and cheese quesadillas, and usually peanut butter and jelly. Strawberries and watermelon are still her favorite fruits. She like blueberries but they give her a bad rash so we steer clear of those for the most part. I’ve been giving her whatever we are eating at dinner and most nights she does well with it.

Play: This girl loves to play, especially if there are other kids around. She pretends to talk on the phone all the time, likes to play with her bath toys (in or out of the water), and loves to use the play vacuum she got for her birthday. She walks everywhere so she is usually dragging a toy and her blanket around with her.

Sleep: Sleep is SO SO SO much better. She is taking at least one 2 hour nap and most days a short nap in the early evening. Most nights she is sleeping for 10-12 hours. Yes, you read that right, 10-12 hours!!!!! Mama is VERY happy about this.

The last month in Becca’s first year was busy! We got to see our friends the Braschlers, celebrated the 4th of July, and planned a birthday party. She experienced her first fall down some stairs at my parent’s house. She fell from the very top to the very bottom. I think it was more traumatic for me than for her. She had a red mark on her forehead but that was gone within a day or 2. She brushes her hair, we’ve started brushing her teeth, tries to put on her shoes, figured out how to take off her diaper, and had her first Imo’s pizza. She liked the pizza but I think she liked the Mountain Dew that her daddy gave her even more. Peas in a pod, those two. She loves loves loves her daddy. She spends her whole day saying “dada” and looking at the front door. She gets so excited when she hears him coming up the front steps. She has started fake sneezing which is hilarious. I mentioned above that she likes to pretend she is on the phone. She will put her hand to her ear (if her play phone is not close) and says hello! This past week she has stated talking a bit after she says hello. She also loves to use the play vacuum. It sings a song so she pushes it back and forth and dances. She is working on talking and is starting to mimic the words we ask her to try. The words she consistently says are: mama, dada, hi, hello, uh-oh, deer, duck, baby, shoes, and purple. She points to a baby and says that voluntarily so I know she knows what it means. Most of her toys she calls purple.

It has been a wild year but we made it! We’ve used all of the stickers in our little container so this will be the last Becca monthly update we have! Enjoy the pictures!

11 Months

11 Months

Height:  27.3 inches as of her last dr visit.

Weight: 16lbs 11 oz. at her last dr visit. She has definitely gained weight though. She is getting rolls!

Eat: Still sticking to 4 bottles a day but she isn’t drinking all of them so I think we are about to transition to 3 bottles. She likes to eat whatever anyone else has and she LOVES to drink from a water bottle. I got her a sippy cup with a straw and she likes that much better than a regular sippy cup. Watermelon and strawberries are her favorite things to eat. She also loves cheese. I try and sneak in some meat but she doesn’t eat it very well. She tried some fish while we were on vacation and ate some of that which surprised me!

Play: She likes to answer the phone. She says “Lo! Lo!” If Joe or I am on the phone she puts her hand to her ear and just says “lo” over and over until we are done. She links to play with her books, some bath toys, and her koala.

Sleep: Sleep is actually getting better. She is taking 1.5-2 hour nap at least once a day, usually twice. And she has slept through the night 3 times in the last week. Hallelujah!

The biggest thing to happen during this month is that Becca is now a full time walker!! She had been taking steps for a few weeks but one night she just started walking everywhere. She can still crawl faster than she walks but she is quickly picking up the pace on walking. We also took a girls trip to Gulf Shores last week. My mom, mother-in-law, my 2 sisters-in-law, and my nephew all went. We had a blast and Becca loves the beach! She like to stand in the water and let the waves come in and she of course tried to eat the sand. She enjoyed the beach more than the pool but we did both. She did so good on the drive there and back. She did so good we managed to do the trip in 1 day! We had planned on stopping but she did awesome. I can’t wait for more trips like this one.  And now we begin the planning of the birthday part. I can’t believe that in 1 month I will have a 1 year old! A toddler instead of a baby. Enjoy these pictures while I go cry into my bowl of ice cream….

10 Months

10 Months

Height:  27.3 inches as of her last dr visit

Weight: 16lbs 11 oz. at her last dr visit. Several people have commented though that she looks like she is ganging weight.

Eat: She loves to eat! Well, she loves to eat big girl food. She still isn’t a huge fan of her bottle but she hasn’t ever been so who is surprised? She eats a 7oz bottle every 4 hours during the day. She eats fruit and pancakes for breakfast. Sometimes I put peanut butter on the pancakes but it doesn’t seem to phase her. I just do the frozen mini pancakes. She loves blueberries, strawberries, watermelon, or raspberries. In the evening she gets grilled cheese, chicken, turkey, cheese, macaroni and cheese, or whatever we are eating! If she can chew it up she will eat it. We also do a snack in the afternoon and it is usually yogurt melts, puffs, or the little wheel snacks. I usually feed her dinner while I am making ours so she begs for our food even if she has eaten really well and has a full belly!

Play: She is go go go all the time. She loves things with music and dances as soon as the music starts. She likes to look at her books, hold the phone to her ear, and love on her baby doll. She really likes to love on her rocking horse too. This girl loves animals!

Sleep: Sleep is somedays good and some days not so good. She has been taking longer afternoon naps but then we will have a few weeks where they are back to 45 minutes if that. If she has taken a short afternoon nap I will sit down with her and just hold her so she will sleep longer. She still wakes at night.

Becca is seriously so much fun. This month brought many firsts. First bubble bath, started standing on her own which was quickly followed by her first steps!! She takes 2-3 steps at a time on her own. She likes to watch bubbles and has learned to say uh-oh. The biggest “first” this month was for both of us. I went to Dallas for a weekend girls trip and Becca stayed with my mom for the weekend. We both did very good haha! She was a little clingy for a few days after I got back but I wasn’t too excited to leave her again either. It has been a busy month and the next 2 before her birthday are even busier!!

9 Months

This is what happened when I put the sticker on the shirt….she immediately ripped it off. I gave up!

Height:  27.3 inches. She has grown 2 inches since the last dr visit.

Weight: 16lbs 11 oz. She has gained over 2 pounds since the last visit! She is still very petite but growing right on her own growth curve.

Eat: She loves to eat whatever mama and daddy are eating. She will sit and beg for our food! She is taking a bottle every 4 hours, about 7 ounces. In between we do a meal in the morning, one in the evening, and a snack in the afternoon. So far that is working for her. She is tiny and when she eats she doesn’t eat a whole lot at a time. She definitely loves big food though, no more purees for this girl! Sometimes I can get her to eat one but she doesn’t eat it very well. She much prefers yogurt, avocado, rice, eggs, and strawberries! Strawberries are her absolute favorite. If I want to eat any I have to wait until she is napping!

Play: She is on the go all the time. She crawls all over the house and if she can pull up and walk along an object she prefers to do that. She will sit and look at a book on her own. I think she likes that over me reading it to her right now. She loves the books that are touch and feel. She sits and runs her fingers over each page. She dances to music and gets excited when her toys make noise. My dad brought her a maraca from Mexico and she played with it nonstop for several days. Then the top came loose and I took it away. I think she was a little too rough with it. I need to find her some that won’t come apart.

Sleep: Sleep is still our trouble area. She doesn’t self soothe well and when she is still asleep and realizes she has lost the paci she can’t seem to remember that she knows how to put it back in her mouth. The nights that are really rough, meaning she wakes up every hour or 2 several times in a row, I just put her in bed with me. The last few night have been better though. Naps are still hanging around 45 minutes. If I know she really needs to sleep longer I will let her sleep next to me on the couch while I work or on me if I know I’m going to take a cat nap too. She loves napping with her daddy though.

This month was one for trying lots of food and learning new words! She says deer. I know, no one is surprised. If you ask her where the deer is she looks around the room and points right to both of them on the wall. She knows where they are in my parent’s house as well. She is babbling a lot and is always on the move. No teeth yet! I was pretty sure for a few days that she was definitely teething but nothing ever popped through so I guess not! We switched her over to the convertible car seat this month. The infant carrier was getting heavy! We are also taking a trip in early June so I wanted her to get used to the new seat. So far, so good!

Not a lot has changed over the last month but each time I look at her I notice that she is losing her baby look and is moving towards being a big girl. Becca is so much fun these days. I laugh multiple times a day at things she does and I love when she laughs with me. She is so sweet to her mama and gives me kisses all the time. She is a mama’s girl!

8 Months

8 Months

Height:  At the last visit she was 25.5 inches. I’m not sure that she has grown much since then. Her next height check will be in April.

Weight: She was 14lbs 11 oz at the last visit. I’m guessing she is between 15 and 16 lbs.

Eat: She is eating 6-7 oz every 3-4 hours with 2 feedings of baby food a day. I gave her one of the pouched foods and now she won’t let me feed her! She wants to feed herself! She has also mastered teething wafers and puffs which is fun. It just clicked one day and away she went!

Play: She is crawling all over the place! One minute she’s in the living room the next she’s halfway down the hall or in the kitchen sitting at the back door looking at the dog. She still likes all the same toys as before and she has started flipping through her books on her own. Some days she will let me read a whole story, some days we just get through a couple of pages at a time. She likes her rocking horse now too. The first time I put her on it she cried when it moved but after that she really likes it! She dances to music, claps her hands, and waves at us!

Sleep: Sleep…..some nights are good, most involve many wake ups. Naps are still around 45 minutes. Some days I can get an hour and a half for at least 1 nap but generally she sleeps for 45 minutes. She goes to bed around 9 or 9:30. She fusses around 11, 1, and 4. If I can give her the paci and she goes right to sleep then we are good. If I get in there and she is awake I’m in trouble. Sometimes I can rock her back to sleep and lay her down and it’s no big deal. Sometimes she does not want to go back to sleep. Those times she ends up in bed with me and usually goes right to sleep. It’s a work in progress.

This month she seems to be turning into a big girl. She wants to stand and walk along everything. She is crawling all over the place. She is eating great! She waves, claps, dances, and talks all the time. She has moved up to size 3 diapers and her 3-6 month jeans finally fit. The rest of her pants are 6-9 or 6-12 but in jeans she is rocking the 3-6. We have moved to a big girl bath. No more baby bathtub. She loved bath time before but now she really loves it. More water to splash and I think she likes sliding all over the place haha! We also experienced our first bout of sickness. The evil stomach bug. Poor girl threw up several times. Thankfully I was at my mom’s house and had lots of help! It only lasted 24 hours and we survived!

And a bonus picture because I love this one.

7 Months

7 Months

Height:  25.5 inches as of her last appt. She had grown 1/2 an inch since the last visit.

Weight: 14lbs 11 oz as of her last appt. She had gained 2.5 lbs since the last visit. She is staying right on her growth chart at the 20th percentile for height and weight. She is petite but since she is staying on her chart there isn’t anything to be concerned about.

Eat: Bottle feeding are stretching to 3-4 hours apart now and she is drinking 6 oz. We are doing 2 pureed food feedings a day. One in the morning after her first nap and the other in the evening around dinnertime. The morning feeding is usually fruit mixed with oatmeal and prunes. She likes applesauce and pears the best it seems. In the evening we do a vegetable. She loves squash and sweet potatoes still. I’ve started making her food. It is so easy! I was afraid it was going to be way more difficult than it was but it really has been enjoyable.

Play: She likes to play peekaboo, bounce in her johnny jumper, and play with her little lion. The lion was a freebie from a business expo that my mom got her. She loves that thing!! She doesn’t like to be left alone so if she is playing then we are sitting on the floor together. I try and work on her colors and counting with her during play time as well. She likes to look at her books too. She is starting to show more interest as I read to her.

Sleep: She likes to go to sleep sitting up on the couch. She nestles in next to me or Joe with her blanket and paci and will go to sleep. Silly girl! She is napping a bit better these days. most days I get at least 1 nap that is an hour to and 2 hours. The rest are still around 45 minutes. She will stay awake for around 2 hours in between naps. After her last nap of the day she will stay up for 3 hours or so and then go down for the night. This girl is a night owl. She stays awake until 9:30 or 10 most nights. She sleeps until 7:00 or 7:30. She is still waking throughout the night. Some of the time I can give her the paci and she goes right back to sleep but sometimes she is awake and smiles really big when I come in. I can rock her back to sleep then but sometimes she isn’t interested and I just put her in bed with me. She goes right to sleep then. I wasn’t a big fan of co-sleeping before now but sometimes you will do anything for a few hours of uninterrupted sleep!

Fun changes this month:

  • Give kisses – she will grab my face and give me a big open mouthed kiss on my cheek. it looks more like she is eating my face!
  • She is pulling up on everything!
  • Plays Peekaboo
  • Loves the Little House on the Prairie theme song – she stops and dances to it every time!
  • Dances to music
  • Finally rolled from her back to her tummy
  • Took her first boat ride
  • Is staring to lunge forward trying to crawl
  • Has a favorite blanket
  • Loves our dog Drake! If you ask her where the puppy is she will look right to the back door and smile. They are going to be best buds.
  • Makes a funny face where she crinkles her nose and snorts! We call it her stink face.
  • She clicks her lips, not her tongue, but her lips. It is so funny!
  • We’ve said goodbye to the 3-6 month clothes and now wear 6-9 and some 6-12. She needs these for the length but her tiny little waist just swims in some of the 6-12 pants!
